Rio Grande Village RV
The Quick Take
Rio Grande Village RV is the only spot in Big Bend where you can plug in, hook up, and pretend civilization still exists -- and in a park this remote, that counts for something. The setup is honest about what it is: a compact paved lot with two dozen back-in sites, bordered by enough grass and trees to soften the edges. What you're really paying for is the full hookup trifecta -- water, electric, and sewer -- which is genuinely rare in a park where the nearest proper town is over an hour away. The camp store next door sells ice, snacks, and has laundry and wifi, making this the closest thing to a base camp Big Bend offers. The trade-off is obvious: you're in a parking lot, not a wilderness setting. But if you're running a rig that needs shore power and you want to explore the Chisos Basin, Santa Elena Canyon, and the hot springs without breaking camp, this is your launch pad. Best for self-contained RVers who treat their campsite as a place to sleep and their truck as the real adventure vehicle.

Pro Tips
Book well ahead for November through March -- Big Bend's mild desert winter is peak season, and with only 25 sites this lot fills fast. Summer is brutally hot (regularly over 110F in the river valley), so availability opens up but your air conditioning will be earning its keep.
The nearby Hot Springs Historic District is a 20-minute drive and one of the park's best kept secrets -- a stone-lined soaking pool right on the Rio Grande where you can sit in 105-degree water and watch Mexico across the river. Go at sunrise before the day-trippers arrive.
Stock up on groceries in Marathon, Alpine, or Fort Stockton before entering the park. The camp store carries basics and ice but not full provisions, and you're looking at a 130-mile round trip to the nearest real supermarket if you forget something critical.
