Cassidy Arch Trail
What to Expect
Safety Advisory
The trail crosses exposed slickrock ledges with steep drop-offs and no guardrails — one section near the arch has a several-hundred-foot unprotected edge that is genuinely dangerous for young children or anyone uncomfortable with heights.
Route-finding can be tricky on the slickrock sections where the trail is marked only by cairns. If you lose the cairns, stop and backtrack rather than improvising — the terrain looks navigable but hides sudden cliffs.

Pro Tips
Start from the Grand Wash trailhead off the Scenic Drive rather than the Cohab Canyon connector — it's shorter and the climb is more direct, saving you energy for the slickrock scrambling near the top.
Bring at least two liters of water per person — there's zero shade on the upper portion and the dark sandstone radiates heat like a furnace from mid-morning onward.
For the best photograph of the arch, don't just stand on it. Scramble slightly past the arch to the overlook on the south side, where you can frame the full span with the canyon walls behind it.
