What to Expect
This is about as flat as hiking gets — eight feet of elevation change over two and a half miles means you're essentially walking on a tabletop. The crushed limestone path follows the Cuyahoga Valley floor, tracing the river corridor through a mix of bottomland forest and open meadow. Starting at the historic Frazee House, you'll pass through stretches of towering sycamores and cottonwoods before the landscape opens up near the Cuyahoga River, where great blue herons are practically guaranteed. The path is wide, well-maintained, and shares DNA with the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath — civilized and accessible without feeling sterile. Station Road Bridge, your turnaround, is a handsome restored truss bridge worth lingering on. This is the trail for anyone who wants to move through a national park without their knees filing a formal complaint afterward.

Pro Tips
Trail Tip
Park at the Station Road Trailhead lot off Riverview Road — it's larger and less likely to fill up than Frazee House, and you can walk the route in either direction with no difference in difficulty.
Trail Tip
The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad runs parallel to portions of this route. Time your hike to catch a train passing through for a surprisingly cinematic moment, especially during fall color season.
Trail Tip
Bring binoculars. The river corridor between Frazee House and Station Road Bridge is one of the best birding stretches in the park — kingfishers, herons, and migrating warblers in spring and fall are common sightings from the trail itself.
