What to Expect
This section of the Buckeye Trail follows the old Ohio and Erie Canal corridor through the heart of Cuyahoga Valley, a flat ribbon of crushed limestone threading between the Cuyahoga River and the wooded hillsides above. The surface is smooth and firm underfoot — think packed gravel path, not a trail in any demanding sense. You'll pass the historic Frazee House, a white farmstead that looks like it belongs in a different century, and walk through a mix of riparian forest and open floodplain that shifts character with the seasons. The destination, Station Road Bridge, is a handsome old stone-arch span that frames the river cleanly. With almost no elevation change across the full out-and-back, this trail belongs to stroller-pushers, casual walkers, and anyone who wants a quiet hour in the valley without earning it.

Trailhead Buckeye Trail: Frazee House to Station Road Bridge
- 1
Park at the Station Road Bridge trailhead on the south end if you want to start with the river view and walk toward the farmstead — the parking area is larger and easier to navigate than the Frazee House pullout.
- 2
Come in late October when the hillsides above the valley turn and reflect in the river; the light hits best in the late afternoon when the sun drops behind the western ridge.
- 3
Bring binoculars — the wetland pockets along this stretch are reliable for great blue herons and, in migration season, wood ducks and mergansers working the river edges.
