Headwaters Campground
The Quick Take
Headwaters sits in the no-man's-land between Grand Teton and Yellowstone, which is either its greatest asset or its biggest drawback depending on your priorities. The campground at Flagg Ranch is a full-service operation with a sizable RV section, dedicated tent sites, and even camper cabins for those who prefer a roof. The Snake River headwaters flow through the surrounding meadows, and the wilderness access is legitimate -- this is not a manicured resort despite the camp store and laundry. The trade-off is the price tag, which runs notably higher than the park-operated campgrounds further south, and you are giving up flush toilets and showers at that premium. Choose Headwaters if you want a base camp that lets you hit both parks without relocating, or if you are rolling in with a larger RV that would struggle at the tighter loops in Jenny Lake or Signal Mountain.

Pro Tips
Book this one as your first or last night on a Yellowstone-to-Teton road trip -- the location two miles from Yellowstone's south entrance means you can be at Old Faithful before the parking lots fill up, then retreat to Grand Teton in the evening.
The upper Snake River near Flagg Ranch is prime moose habitat, especially at dawn. Walk the meadow edges near the river before breakfast and you will likely spot them without competing with crowds further south at Oxbow Bend.
There are no showers on-site despite the nightly rate, so budget for a trip to the Colter Bay shower facilities about twenty minutes south, or embrace the river-adjacent lifestyle and pack biodegradable soap and a solar shower.
