Ozette Campground
The Quick Take
Ozette is Olympic's quiet loner — a tiny lakeside campground at the end of a long, winding road that most visitors never bother to find. With just fifteen sites tucked along the shore of Lake Ozette, this is about as far from the Kalaloch crowds as you can get while still technically car camping. The trade-off is real: there are no flush toilets, no potable water, and no camp store within reasonable distance. What you get in return is a launching pad for two of the park's finest coastal hikes — the routes to Cape Alava and Sand Point — plus genuinely peaceful lakeside evenings where the loudest sound is a loon. Be warned that winter flooding can shut the whole place down without much notice. This campground belongs to self-sufficient hikers who treat camping as a means to reach the wilderness, not a destination in itself.

Pro Tips
Every site here is first-come, first-served, and with only fifteen spots, arriving by early afternoon on summer weekends is non-negotiable. Midweek visits in July and August are your best bet for snagging a lakeside spot without the anxiety.
The three-mile trail to Cape Alava hits the westernmost point in the contiguous United States and connects to the coastal route past the Ozette Loop's famous petroglyphs at Wedding Rocks. Do the full 9.4-mile triangle loop and you will understand why people drive all the way out here.
Pack in every drop of water you will need — there is no potable water at this campground. A gravity filter and collapsible water containers are essential. Stock up on fuel and groceries before leaving Highway 101, because there is nothing resembling a store on the Hoko-Ozette Road.
