What to Expect

Starting right behind the Cruz Bay visitor center, Lind Point Trail is one of those rare hikes where you can roll off a ferry and be on a Caribbean trail within minutes — no rental car required. The path climbs gently through dry tropical forest, where gumbo-limbo trees peel like sunburned tourists and cactus mingles with frangipanis. A spur trail leads to the Lind Point Overlook, where a well-placed bench lets you watch sailboats drift across Pillsbury Sound with St. Thomas as the backdrop. Continue down and the forest opens to reveal your reward: Honeymoon Beach or Solomon Beach, both with that absurd turquoise water that looks photoshopped but isn't. The whole thing takes under an hour, making it the perfect first-day warm-up before you tackle longer trails like Reef Bay. Ideal for families, cruise-ship escapees, and anyone who wants a beach they actually earned.

Safety Advisory

There is almost no shade on the overlook spur or the final descent to the beaches — on a full-sun Caribbean afternoon, the exposed sections can feel brutal. Start early or carry more water than you think you need.

The trail surface has some loose rock and exposed roots on the descent to Solomon Beach. Flip-flops are a recipe for a twisted ankle — wear real shoes for the hike and switch to sandals at the beach.

Pro Tips

Trail Tip

Hit this trail first thing in the morning — by mid-morning the beaches fill up with boat traffic from water taxis, but early arrivals get Solomon Beach practically to themselves.

Trail Tip

Bring reef-safe sunscreen and a snorkel mask in your daypack. Solomon Beach has solid snorkeling right off the sand, and you'll kick yourself if you hiked down without gear.

Trail Tip

Take the overlook spur trail on the way out, not the way in. The afternoon light hits Pillsbury Sound from the west, giving you far better photos than the flat morning light.
