Enjoy a 360-Degree View at Little Baldy Dome
What to Expect
Safety Advisory
The final approach to the dome is exposed granite with no railing — keep a close eye on kids near the edges, especially on the north side where the drop-off is steeper than it looks.
Despite the trail's accessibility designation, the upper section crosses bare rock with limited traction when wet. After rain or early-season snowmelt, the granite gets slick enough to send you sliding.

Pro Tips
Start by mid-morning at the latest — the trailhead parking pullout on Generals Highway is small (maybe 8-10 cars) and there's no overflow lot, so latecomers end up parking along the road shoulder.
Pack a full lunch and eat it on the dome. The flat granite summit is one of the best picnic spots in the entire park, with 360-degree views and enough room that you won't be sitting in anyone's lap.
For the best wildflower display, hit this trail in mid-July through early August. The meadow clearings about halfway up put on a show that rivals anything in the park, and almost nobody photographs them because everyone's at Crescent Meadow instead.
