Marble Falls Trail
What to Expect
Safety Advisory
Rattlesnakes are common along this trail, especially in warmer months. The rocky, brushy terrain is ideal habitat, so watch where you step and never reach blindly over rocks or ledges.
The marble rock at the falls is dangerously slick when wet. Multiple rescues have been needed here — stay well back from the edge of the cascades, and don't attempt to climb the falls or wade into fast-moving water above the drops.
Heat exposure is a serious concern from late spring through early fall. Carry at least two liters of water per person — there is no reliable shade or water refill point along the trail.

Pro Tips
Hit the trail by 7 AM in spring and summer — there's almost no shade for the entire route, and afternoon temperatures in the Kaweah River canyon regularly push past 95 degrees from May through September.
This is one of Sequoia's best early-season trails. When the Giant Forest trails are snowbound through April, Marble Falls is often clear and the waterfall is at peak flow from snowmelt — time your visit for late March through mid-May for the best cascade.
The falls are actually a long series of cascades spread across marble bedrock. Don't stop at the first view — carefully pick your way along the rocks to find quieter pools upstream where you can soak your feet and have lunch with a private waterfall soundtrack.
