Liberty Falls Trail
What to Expect
Safety Advisory
The trail is not maintained by the NPS or any agency — expect downed trees, eroded sections, and unmarked route-finding near the falls. Sturdy footwear with ankle support is essential.
Rocks near the falls and gorge edge are frequently wet and dangerously slick. Stay well back from drop-offs, especially if traveling with children.

Pro Tips
Time your visit for late June through early August when snowmelt feeds the falls at peak volume — by September the cascade can thin out considerably.
The trailhead can be easy to miss along the Edgerton Highway, so watch for the Liberty Falls State Recreation Site near mile 23.5 — the campground parking area doubles as your starting point.
Bring a wide-angle lens and work your way down toward the base of the gorge for the most dramatic perspective on the falls, where spray catches the light in the afternoon.
